I need a mouse!!!

Last night, I got a call from a friend screaming that she needed a mouse!!! Since I don’t have a pet shop, I assumed she was after a computer mouse!! Her reason being ‘My mousepad just stopped working…..I didn’t do anything!!”. Failing to believe her, I had a look at her laptop and it only took me a second to figure out the problem and the solution.

In most laptops, one of the function keys(F9 in a Toshiba R400) is used to enable/disable the laptop’s touchpad.

A simple key press of ‘Fn + F9’ fixed her laptop and earned me a delicious hot chocolate 🙂

If your mousepad happens to stop working, do give this a try!

Restore Recycle Bin!

I realised today that I hadn’t emptied my recycle bin in a looong time!!! So I tried to empty it but guess what – I couldn’t find it!!! I tried searching for it and couldn’t find anything!!! That’s when I remembered an old uni trick!

To create your missing recycle bin, Create a New folder on your desktop.  Then, name the new folder “Recycle Bin.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}” and oooh la la, my recycle bin is create and now I can empty all my old deleted items!

Hope it helps!!!

You don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone

Filed under: cricket — saraalag @ 12:44 am

I consider myself to be a ‘true’ cricket fan…i don’t just watch the glamorous T20 and the entertaining one dayers – I can sit through 5 days of gruelling test match cricket…imageI don’t just follow the the exciting MS. Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Bhajji…but also the traditional craftsmen – Rahul Dravid and VVS…but somehow I missed Anil Kumble…

I have grown up idolising Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly and VVS…everytime India wins an unthinkable test match – I applaud the batsmen who scored the big runs. Whether in Headingly, Adelaide or Perth where India had huge wins, I joined millions of cricket fans in praising Sachin, Rahul Dravid, Ganguly and VVS…but like many others, I forgot the one man who played a major hand in all these wins…the quiet man who revived the ‘spirit of the game’…the man who was known as Jumbo – not only because of his size but also for his heart and effort…Farewell Anil Kumble…

Anil Kumble was not an innovative or exciting captain – but he put in 200% effort and in that way lead by example…Mahinder Singh Dhoni will miss you in his team….

Anil, as an Australian Indian, you were one of the few players I was proud of during the famous Bollyline series..you held your head high and led your team with dignity…

Jumbo, you have now joined my list of idols and will forever remain…

TechED 08 is Over

This was a fantastic TechED 08 for me! I have now attended TechEd as a student ambassador, Microsoft Staff and now a delegate and exhibitor as well!!!

I attended a bunch of sessions, focusing mainly on SharePoint and some Unified Comms.

I was also booth babe along with Melissa Richards, George Freeny(Official DWS Photographer) and Dan Nuroo(the Bean bag stealer)…We all had a lot of fun and met some fantastic current and future clients!! There is a LOT of demand for SharePoint out there!! Every second person wanted to know about SharePoint – especially Sharepoint’s Enterprise Content Management Capabilities.

DWS’s XBOX competition was quite popular – I had people who wanted to bribe me for it!

All in all, MS put up another great event! I had a very tiring yet fun week and learnt a lot! It was great catching up with Paul Turner(thanks for all the freebies), Marc Soester and Ben Walters.

Will upload some TechEd08 photos soon…

It’s been over 3 months!

Workwise, I have been doing a fair bit of work on Infopath lately…

I’m back to blogging now and will hopefully continue without any further breaks!

Tourist-ing around Sydney!

I spent the last weekend being a tourist in Sydney!!! We had some relatives come over from India and decided to take them to all the traditional Tourist spots. Having to pass icons like The Opera House and The Harbour Bridge on my way to work every day, I had forgotten to appreciate them! Almost forgot how lucky I am to live in beautiful Sydney! The weather was around 15 degrees last weekend and the wind made it feel like 2 degrees!

We braved the weather and visited places like Manly, Watsons Bay, Darling harbour etc..Here are some shots of beautiful Sydney…
